In Partnership with Colin's Hope

United for Water Safety

At Trinity Triathlon, our commitment to youth development begins with safety. Because triathlon starts in the water, swim safety is not just a component of the sport — it is foundational to everything we do. That’s why we are proud to partner with Colin’s Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing childhood drowning through water safety education, awareness, and community outreach.

Colin’s Hope was formed after the tragic drowning of four-year-old Colin Holst in 2008. Since then, the organization has worked tirelessly to provide families with lifesaving resources and practical water safety education. Drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 and one of the leading causes for children ages 1–14. These statistics reinforce the importance of proactive awareness and prevention within any youth athletic program involving water.

Through this partnership, Trinity Triathlon is committed to:

• Promoting water safety education for athletes and families
• Raising awareness about drowning prevention
• Encouraging responsible swim practices at every event
• Supporting community initiatives that protect children year-round

Our mission is to build strong, confident young athletes — and that includes ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and awareness to stay safe in and around water. Together with Colin’s Hope, we are working to create a community where competition, confidence, and safety go hand in hand.

How the Partnership Shows Up on Race Day

Our partnership with Colin's Hope is not just symbolic — it is active and visible throughout the event experience.

On race day, this commitment shows up through:

• Reinforced swim safety briefings for athletes and parents
• Clearly supervised swim segments with structured wave starts
• Water safety awareness materials available to families
• Volunteer education around safe swim practices
• Ongoing communication about drowning prevention and responsible water habits

Because triathlon begins in the water, we believe every athlete and parent should leave our event not only more confident — but more informed. Safety is integrated into the culture of the event, not treated as an afterthought.

Why This Matters

Drowning is the #1 cause of death for children ages 1–4 and remains one of the leading causes of accidental death for children ages 1–14. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for every fatal drowning, seven more children receive emergency medical care for submersion injuries.

These statistics are sobering — but they also reinforce an important truth: drowning is preventable.

By partnering with Colin’s Hope, Trinity Triathlon is taking an active role in raising awareness, promoting education, and encouraging responsible water habits within our community. As a youth triathlon organization, we believe building strong athletes must go hand in hand with protecting young lives.

How Families Can Get Involved

Protecting young athletes goes beyond race day. Families can support water safety in their own communities by learning prevention strategies, sharing awareness resources, and reinforcing responsible swim habits at home.

You can get involved by:

• Practicing active supervision whenever children are near water
• Enrolling children in formal swim lessons
• Reviewing water safety guidelines with your family
• Supporting water safety initiatives in your community
• Sharing educational resources with other parents

Together, we can build a culture where confidence in the water is paired with knowledge, preparation, and responsibility.

Help Us Support Colin’s Hope

Every donation helps expand the lifesaving work of Colin’s Hope, whose mission is to provide water safety awareness, education, and resources to prevent children from drowning. Through community outreach, educational programs, and the distribution of water safety resources, Colin’s Hope works to equip families and caregivers with the knowledge they need to keep children safe around water.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death for children, yet many of these tragedies are preventable through proper education, supervision, and awareness. Donations help Colin’s Hope continue developing programs that teach families how to recognize risks, understand safe swimming practices, and respond effectively in water-related emergencies.

By supporting this mission, you are helping bring critical water safety education to more families and communities. Your contribution helps raise awareness, fund educational initiatives, and expand access to resources that can ultimately save lives and prevent heartbreaking loss. Together, we can make a meaningful impact by empowering families with the tools and knowledge needed to keep children safe in and around water.

Every finish line builds belief. By completing swim, bike, and run challenges, kids learn resilience, discipline, and the confidence that comes from doing hard things - lessons that extend far beyond race day.

Safe Community

WHAT OUR ATHLETES AND PARENTS ARE SAYING...

"Instilled self-confidence"

Our daughter was definitely hesitant to start, but the energy of the other kids was contagious. Doing something new and difficult turned out to be so much fun for her. Finishing her first triathlon instilled a deep sense of self-confidence in Keenedy that is hard to find anywhere else.

Nelson, parent of triathlon athlete

"Confidence You Can See"

We’ve tried other sports, but this was different. The structure and positive coaching helped our daughter push herself in ways we hadn’t seen before. She left the event talking about her goals for next year. As a parent, that growth means everything.

Rebecca. parent of 11 year old athlete

"Safe, Organized, Inspiring"

From check-in to the finish line, everything felt professional and well thought out. The safety standards gave us peace of mind, and the energy of the event made it so much fun for the kids. Trinity Triathlon balances competition and character perfectly.
